A New Seafood-Forward Restaurant & Brewery Set to Open in Fredericksburg

FREDERICKSBURG, Va., April 27, 2022 – The Port Oysteria & Brewery is set to open in historic Fredericksburg, Virginia, in 2023. The completely renovated space will occupy the former Spencer Devon Brewing building at 106 George Street.

The Port is bringing a new, first-of-its-kind concept to Fredericksburg – a modern raw bar that pairs fresh seafood with craft beer brewed onsite in the 10-barrel brewhouse. This concept borrows heavily from the history of the region, blending influence from the former Fredericksburg shipping port and the spirited pasts of other nearby port towns of Alexandria, Virginia and Charleston, South Carolina.

Helmed by local business owners Joel Griffin, Kevin Harkins and Carrick Longley, The Port is the culmination of years of experience across business and hospitality endeavors to fill a gap in the local market.

“The Fredericksburg region is about to become a heavy hitter when it comes to culinary and dining experiences. The restaurant and retail communities work hand-in-hand to create a variety of venues that ultimately establish the environment of a ‘destination location’,” said Partner Joel Griffin. “The Port will introduce a seafood-centric flair to an already rich restaurant scene. We are excited to partner with the nearby hospitality community to continue enriching and growing the hidden potential in our area.”

The Port is the pragmatic manifestation of everything that inspires the founders – local histories and traditions, seafood, community, and, of course, craft beer. Says Partner Kevin Harkins, “The true history of a place comes across on the plate. At the end of the day, when the work was done, they gathered around a table and ate food made from the very things that connected them – literally the harvest of the earth, the fruits of their labor. We know our patrons will feel this in the space while they relax with great beers and fresh seafood.”

Renovations on the 2,700 sq. foot restaurant are currently underway. Guests can expect a large feature bar and dining room complete with low- and high-top seating. An adjacent private dining space can accommodate parties up to 14 guests. The central feature will be the raw bar, where guests can watch fresh oysters get shucked with speed and skill. The restaurant will also be available for a full buyout for those needing to accommodate larger parties.

Additionally, renovations are underway downstairs. Below The Port is another unique concept from the founders, to be announced later this year. To learn more, visit eatattheport.com.
